Lee started playing the drums at the tender age of 5. By the time he was 13, he was playing regularly in pubs, clubs and talent contests. Whilst still at school, Lee continued to gig with various bands around the pub and club scene, usually performing with much older musicians. By the age of 16, Lee had completed his first tour with an original Heavy Metal act. For a number of years, Lee continued gigging and recording with various Heavy Metal, Blues, Rock and Funk bands.
Lee then studied for a year at the Drumtech music school in London. While studying in London he performed for Rhythm magazine in the south of France and in Cardiff. After finishing his studies, Lee then signed for an Originals band – the Neutrinos – replacing drummer Steve Barney (Annie Lennox, Anastasia). The band played many shows in London and were signed to the independent record label UK2. Lee worked with producer Paul Sampson (Catatonia) and as well as recording with the Neutrinos, he performed a drum clinic for Mapex Drums.
Lee continued playing sessions with various bands and artists from Drum and Bass to Pop. He was interviewed by Rhythm magazine for the Hottest New Drummers feature. Driven by a desire to develop his musical knowledge, Lee studied Jazz inLondon with world renowned saxophonist Jamie Abersold. Lee then switched to Jazz, gigging in clubs, pubs and hotels and played with several different quartets, bands and trios.
His wealth of experience allowed Lee to start teaching private students. His natural ability to pass on skills to students soon resulted in teaching in High schools, as well as individuals.
In 2011, Lee performed a Gretsch drum clinic at Cookes of Norwich. You can see the video on this page!
In 2013 Lee signed an endorsement with Natal drums.
Today, Lee lives in Drayton, near Norwich and continues to make a living doing what he loves: teaching drums, playing live and recording with many acts, whatever the musical genre.
